**AI Drives Tech-Related Hiring Across North America Despite Slower Overall Growth**
Although overall technology job growth has decelerated across the U.S. and Canada, the rising adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) is fueling increased demand for specialized talent in the sector. According to CBRE’s annual North America Scoring Tech Talent report, while general tech employment grew just 1.1% in the U.S. and 5.9% in Canada in 2024, hiring in AI-related computer and information systems roles surged by 9% in the U.S. and 6% in Canada.
“The rapid development and adoption of AI is generating economic growth across major tech hubs like the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, and Manhattan,” said Colin Yasukochi, Executive Director of CBRE’s Tech Insights Center. “These markets are receiving record amounts of venture capital funding and corporate investment in AI initiatives, which often results in hiring and future office demand.”
Yasukochi added, “The AI industry could be the catalyst for another growth cycle among office-using companies, boosting the office market’s recovery.”
