Pennsylvania Data Center Partners and PowerHouse Data Center have announced a major joint venture: a $15 billion investment in three hyperscale data center campuses located in central Pennsylvania.
This ambitious development, known as Pennsylvania Digital I (PAX), is set to become a major AI data hub. The project will deliver 1.35 gigawatts (GW) of data processing capacity, with the potential to expand to 1.8 GW. Each of the three campuses will include six dedicated data center buildings and a 450-megawatt substation, providing the scale and speed necessary to support AI-focused infrastructure. The site will also benefit from connectivity to 17 metropolitan fiber networks, including direct peering with Ashburn, Virginia—a key data hub.
“This venture between Pennsylvania Data Center Partners and PowerHouse Data Centers is groundbreaking for AI infrastructure,” said Senator Dave McCormick. “It’s a bold and meaningful investment that puts Pennsylvania at the heart of America’s emerging AI tech economy.”
Beyond its technological impact, the project is expected to deliver substantial economic benefits, including over $65 million in direct tax revenue for the local community.
