The scale of this $5.5 billion gaming-led expansion signals continued investor willingness to deploy large, long-dated capital into experiential hospitality assets in major gateway markets.

Resorts World New York City has brought the first floor of its commercial casino online, marking an early milestone in a long-term expansion program at the gaming property. The opening introduces 1,400 additional slot machines less than three months after the facility became the city’s first full-scale casino.

With this latest deployment, the total slot count at the property rises to 3,900 machines. Resort representatives expect the added capacity to translate into higher gross gaming revenue and an increase in tax payments to New York State, reflecting strong demand for gaming options since the casino’s full launch.

Leadership at Genting Americas East, which is represented in the project by president Robert DeSalvio, underscored the pace of early performance. DeSalvio noted that the casino’s slot machines generated more than $230 million in gross gaming revenue over an 11-week span following the opening of full casino operations, and said the additional 1,400 games are intended to better accommodate patron traffic while further boosting tax contributions.

The current gaming footprint is described as the initial phase of a planned $5.5 billion buildout at the Resorts World New York City site. The broader program is designed to substantially scale the property’s role in the regional gaming and entertainment landscape over the coming years, with multiple components expected to be added in stages.

By 2030, the plan calls for a 350,000-square-foot gaming floor that would house 6,000 slot machines and 800 live table games. The expansion blueprint also includes a 7,000-seat entertainment venue intended to support concerts and large-scale events, as well as 2,000 hotel rooms to capture overnight and multi-day visitation associated with the casino and its programming.

Beyond gaming and hospitality uses, Resorts World New York City also envisions more than 10 acres of public green space as part of the completed project. That open-space component is intended to integrate the large-scale casino and entertainment complex with its surrounding community context, while broadening the property’s appeal beyond traditional gaming patrons.

As the first floor of the commercial casino comes online under the new gaming license, the resort is effectively moving from an initial launch phase into a multi-year implementation of its full master plan. The pace of future development, including delivery of the expanded gaming floor, hotel rooms, entertainment venue, and public open space, will shape how quickly the property reaches the scale outlined in the $5.5 billion program.
