Manna, Inc. Breaks Ground on S Street Village Redevelopment in Washington, D.C.
Manna, Inc. has officially broken ground on S Street Village, a transformative mixed-use redevelopment project in Washington, D.C., marking a significant milestone in the organization’s 40-year collaboration with Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), a national nonprofit financial institution.
With partial funding provided by LISC DC, the project will deliver 90 new energy-efficient, affordable apartment units. Once completed, both Manna and its longtime church partner will return to occupy space within the new development.
Located adjacent to the Metro, the seven-story building will replace a site previously occupied by outdated and vacant housing. The project is designed to serve a diverse range of residents, offering 40 one-bedroom units, 30 two-bedroom units, 18 three-bedroom units, and two four-bedroom apartments.
In addition to LISC DC, the redevelopment is supported by a strong coalition of financial partners, including United Bank, Amazon’s Housing Fund, DC Housing Finance Agency, Sugar Creek Capital, Hudson Housing Capital, Capital One, and Affordable Homes & Communities. McCullough Construction is leading the buildout, with completion anticipated in the spring of 2027.
