**Charlotte Developers to Add 110,000 SF of Retail to Village Commons**
Charlotte-based developer Aston, in partnership with Branch Properties, is moving forward with Phase III of their retail development located at Highway 84 and Waxhaw Indian Trail Road in the Village of Wesley Chapel. The expansion will introduce an additional 110,000 square feet of retail, restaurant, and service space to the thriving Village Commons retail center, which currently encompasses over 393,000 square feet.
According to the Charlotte Business Journal, the third phase will span 15.1 acres and is set to be anchored by a 50,325-square-foot Publix grocery store, scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2026. More than 30,000 square feet of the new retail has already been leased, while approximately 22,000 square feet remains available for prospective tenants.
The project team includes Ashland Construction as general contractor and Ironhead Construction as site contractor. Banks Engineering is serving as the civil engineer, with architecture led by Phillips Architecture.
Village Commons first began development in 2004 with the delivery of 82,000 square feet, anchored by Harris Teeter. The latest expansion reflects the ongoing growth and investment in the Wesley Chapel community.
