### Bally’s $1.7B Chicago Casino Gains Site Approval
Bally’s Corporation has cleared a significant construction hurdle for its Chicago casino project after receiving formal site plan approval from the city’s Department of Planning and Development.
The development, located on the 30-acre former Chicago Tribune printing site downtown, will feature a 500-room, 34-story hotel tower. This approval follows Bally’s decision to modify its original design and relocate the planned hotel tower to prevent damage to city water pipes, as reported by the *Chicago Business Journal*.
The project is being financed entirely by Pennsylvania-based Gaming and Leisure Properties in a single phase. Bally’s and Gaming and Leisure Properties have secured a $940 million construction funding facility for the Chicago casino, as well as additional financing transactions totaling nearly $2 billion.
Beyond the hotel and casino, the site will include a 3,000-seat theater, a diverse range of dining options through restaurants and a food hall, and a two-acre public park. Additionally, the property will enhance public access to the riverfront with a 2,000-foot-long extension of the riverwalk.
This latest approval marks a crucial step toward bringing Bally’s vision for a world-class entertainment destination in Chicago to life.
