Conroe Implements Building Moratorium

Conroe Implements Building Moratorium

The Conroe City Council has placed a temporary development moratorium in the northern part of the city, citing potential water shortages. This decision was made to combat these issues and prevent further strain on the city’s water resources.

While residents will only be affected by irrigation restrictions, developers will face more significant consequences. According to Community Impact, this moratorium applies to all development projects in the northern portion of Conroe except for Panorama Village, April Sound subdivision and Montgomery County Municipal Utility Districts (MUD) Nos. 3 and 4.

To address these concerns, an estimated $50 million is needed for necessary water infrastructure improvements. Councilmember Howard Wood believes that previous overdevelopment and decision-making have contributed to this challenging situation faced by Conroe.

In response to these challenges, Connect CRE reports that a building moratorium has been enacted in Conroe until further notice.
