Attracting Costco: Forney's Incentive Plan

The Forney City Council has voted to negotiate an economic development agreement with Costco in order to entice the construction of a warehouse store in their rapidly growing town. According to recent statistics, Forney experienced a 51.2% growth rate from 2020-2023, making it the fastest-growing town in the country.

As reported by The Dallas Business Journal, this new Costco location will be situated at U.S. Highway 80 and Clements Drive. On average, Costco warehouses span around 147,000 square feet; however newer units tend to be slightly larger. Typically employing approximately 200 individuals per store.

Within the Dallas-Fort Worth area alone, there are currently twelve existing Costco locations with three more already underway for future openings. Construction is currently taking place on a new Prosper location set for debut this autumn while Celina’s newest addition is expected later this year as well; Weatherford can also look forward to welcoming its own brand-new store come early 2025.
