Schott Pharma, a German syringe manufacturer, has announced plans to construct a new $371 million manufacturing facility in Wilson County, North Carolina. The plant will be located just 50 miles east of Raleigh and is expected to create over 400 jobs for the region.
This investment will significantly enhance the U.S. supply chain for high-demand syringes used in administering injectable medicines and vaccines. By expanding their production capabilities with this new site, SCHOTT Pharma aims to triple its contribution of glass and polymer syringes to the U.S. market by 2030.
According to Christopher Cassidy from Schott Pharma, Wilson County was selected as the ideal location due to several factors including access to a skilled local workforce and close proximity to the Research Triangle area which boasts top universities, healthcare companies,and biopharma resources. To support this expansion project,North Carolina has provided $21 million in local and state incentive awards.
