"Northeastern University to Construct 23-Story Tower for 1,400 Students"

Northeastern University has received the green light from the Boston Planning and Development Agency board for a 23-story tower on Columbus Avenue. This impressive structure will accommodate up to 1,370 students, as reported by Boston Business Journal.

In addition to this exciting development, The Druker Co. Ltd. has also gained approval for two interconnected lab-and-office buildings at 1033-1055 Washington St., totaling nearly 600,000 square feet. Other notable projects that have been given the go-ahead include The Flatley Co.’s mixed-use development along Mystic River and The Fallon Co.’s Sullivan Square lab complex.

Mayor Michelle Wu’s initiatives have also seen success with approvals for downtown office-to-housing conversions and zoning code changes.

The move by Northeastern University to provide more student housing in light of Boston’s housing challenges is being welcomed by housing advocates. This approved tower is a partnership with American Campus Communities and aims to alleviate student housing demand while promoting economic growth and sustainability in the area.
