Airplane Parts Maker Seeks State Aid for $40M Expansion

San Marcos’s top employer is seeking to expand its manufacturing plant and is requesting state incentives. CFAN Co., which currently employs 460 individuals, plans to increase its workforce with the help of these incentives. To qualify for grants under the Texas Enterprise Zone Act, the town must nominate CFAN Co. The Austin Business Journal reports that this designation would allow the company to apply for refunds on future state sales and use taxes.

Founded in 1991 as a joint venture between GE Aerospace and Safran Aircraft Engines, two leading aerospace companies, CFAN has been operating in San Marcos since 1993. With a current facility spanning over 270,000 square feet at their location on Technology Way, they specialize in producing blades for airplane jet engines. One of their major clients is Boeing.

The company has plans to invest $40 million into expanding their facilities between 2024 and 2029.
