"CO Chip Builder Expansion Receives $90M Grant Approval"

Microchip Technology has received a federal grant of $90 million to enhance and expand its Colorado Springs campus. This funding is part of the CHIPS and Science Act, which aims to boost domestic manufacturing of microchips and semiconductor chips through tax credits, loans, and research programs totaling $280 billion.

As a leading manufacturer of microcontroller units and semiconductors used in various industries such as electric vehicles, airplanes, cell phones, washing machines,and aerospace defense equipment,the company plans to use the grant for modernization purposes. The expansion will create 400 new jobs in addition to the current 1,000 employees at their 579248 square feet campus spanning six buildings.

This significant investment by Microchip Technology demonstrates their commitment towards strengthening domestic production capabilities while also creating employment opportunities for local communities.
