The Chevy Chase Land Company and Bozzuto have received preliminary approval for the next phase of their mixed-use project, known as “Block A” or Chevy Chase Lake West. This transit-oriented development is located at 8550 Connecticut Ave., adjacent to Bethesda, and spans approximately 16 acres. It will be connected to a forthcoming Purple Line rail transit station.
Currently, the development includes retail spaces and residential buildings such as The Barrett, The Claude, and Ritz Carlton condominiums. Tenants include Amazon Fresh.
This new phase aims to revitalize an underutilized area by constructing a multifamily-over-retail building with 220 units. These will include townhouse-style apartments along with up to 28 additional dwelling units. In addition to residential offerings, there are plans for introducing 19,000 square feet of retail and commercial space in this phase.
