Dana-Farber Cancer Center and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center have announced their plans to construct a new cancer facility in Boston’s Longwood Medical Area. The project, estimated at $1.68 billion, has been reported by the Boston Business Journal.
The proposed facility will span 688,100 square feet and feature a 300-bed adult inpatient hospital. It also includes the construction of a tunnel under Brookline Avenue and a bridge over it to connect with Dana-Farber’s existing building.
This initiative aims to expand access to adult cancer care services and relocate Dana-Farber’s current 30 inpatient beds from its location at 75 Francis St. However, regulatory approval is required for this plan.
