The Wonderful Company has completed the disposition of a large Class A industrial facility at its Wonderful Logistics Center in Shafter, selling 5104 Express Ave. to a major global technology and e-commerce company. The building totals 1,088,047 square feet and was recently constructed within the 2,000-acre, fully entitled, master-planned logistics and distribution campus.
The transaction expands the buyer’s presence at Wonderful Logistics Center to three locations, reflecting a combined owned and leased footprint of more than three million square feet. The deal adds to the campus’s concentration of large-scale distribution facilities and underscores its role as a hub for logistics users with significant space requirements.
Joe Vargas, president of Wonderful Real Estate, said that global operators are increasingly choosing Wonderful Logistics Center because it offers a differentiated model within both the state and the country. He highlighted that the campus is designed as a master-planned logistics hub that integrates large-format distribution facilities with workforce and community development initiatives, as well as the future build-out of clean freight infrastructure.
Vargas noted that the buyer’s continued investment at the campus affirms Wonderful Logistics Center’s position as one of California’s leading examples of responsible logistics and durable economic growth. He emphasized that the platform is intended to deliver benefits for businesses, employees and surrounding communities by aligning industrial development with long-term economic and workforce outcomes.
Beyond the real estate transaction, the global technology and e-commerce company has also deepened its ties to the area through workforce training efforts. In 2025, the buyer collaborated with Bakersfield College and The Wonderful Company to launch a 12-week Mechatronics & Robotics Apprenticeship program hosted at the on-site Wonderful Career Center. The program offers hands-on, SACA-certified training designed to equip U.S. employees with skills for technical roles and advancement opportunities.
According to the companies, more than 100 student employees have completed the program to date. Graduates move into year-long apprenticeships before transitioning into mid-level technical positions at the buyer’s operations, creating a pipeline of trained talent that supports both the employer’s needs and local workforce development.
The sale of 5104 Express Ave., together with the buyer’s expanding operational footprint and training partnership, illustrates how industrial campuses such as Wonderful Logistics Center are being positioned not only as distribution nodes but also as platforms for long-term employment and skills development.
