Women's Center in Houston to Expand Threefold

Houston Area Women’s Center (HAWC) has broken ground on the first phase of a $45 million expansion and renovation project to meet increased demand for temporary housing for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and sex trafficking. The initial phase will build a new four-story shelter with 360 beds at 3077 El Camino St., tripling HAWC’s existing 120 bed capacity. Additionally, the campus will include an elementary school approved by Houston Independent School District and child care center specifically designed for shelter residents. GSMA is serving as architect while Camden Builders is contractor on this Houston-based project.
