Winston-Salem to Get New Sports and Entertainment District

In an effort to replicate the success of professional sports teams, a major college is planning to develop a sports and entertainment district adjacent to their campus. The project, known as The Grounds, is being spearheaded by Carter and Front Street Capital in collaboration with the City of Winston-Salem and Wake Forest University. This 100-acre mixed-use development will bring together retail, dining, residential, and office spaces in one central location.

Some key features of The Grounds include a 40,000-square-foot retail village with various food options; a residential community consisting of 240 units; and a 100K square foot office building that will be leased by Wake Forest University. Additionally,the State of North Carolina has allocated $35 million for infrastructure improvements such as road upgrades,rehabilitationof Silas Creek,and constructionofa paved walking trail throughout the development.

The goal behind this project is to create an all-in-one hub where people can live,eat,and work while also enjoying nearby event venues.This exciting new addition,togetherwiththe support from local governmentand educational institutions,is setto revitalizeWinston-Salem’s landscapeand enhanceits appealas botha commercial centerand vibrantcommunity destination.
