Winston-Salem to Get New Sports and Entertainment District

Winston-Salem to Get New Sports and Entertainment District

In an effort to replicate the success of professional sports teams, a major college is planning to develop a sports and entertainment district adjacent to its event venues. The project, called “The Grounds,” is being spearheaded by Carter and Front Street Capital in collaboration with the City of Winston-Salem and Wake Forest University. This 100-acre mixed-use development will feature retail, dining, residential, and office space all in one central location.

Among the highlights of The Grounds are a 40,000-square-foot retail village with various food and beverage options; a residential community consisting of 240 units; and a 100K square foot office building that will be leased by Wake Forest University. Additionally, infrastructure improvements funded by a $35 million grant from the State of North Carolina will include road upgrades as well as restoration work on Silas Creek. A paved walking trail surrounded by landscaped areas will also be built for pedestrian access throughout The Grounds.

This exciting project has been dubbed “Sports & Entertainment District Slated for Winston-Salem” on Connect CRE’s website.
