Winston-Salem to Get New Sports and Entertainment District

In an effort to replicate the success of professional sports teams, a major college is planning to develop a sports and entertainment district adjacent to their campus. The project, known as “The Grounds,” is being spearheaded by Carter and Front Street Capital in collaboration with the City of Winston-Salem and Wake Forest University. This 100-acre mixed-use development will bring together retail, dining, residential, and office spaces into one central hub.

Some key features of The Grounds include a 40,000-square-foot retail village with various food options; a residential community consisting of 240 units; and a 100K square foot office building that will be leased by Wake Forest University. Additionally, infrastructure improvements are also planned for the area thanks to a $35 million grant from the State of North Carolina. These improvements include road enhancements as well as restoration work on Silas Creek. A paved walking trail will also be constructed throughout The Grounds for pedestrian connectivity.

Overall, this exciting new project aims to revitalize this area surrounding North Carolina’s major event venues while providing diverse amenities for visitors and residents alike.
