**WinnDevelopment and CSTO Begin $40.1M Renovation of Eva White Apartments in Boston**
The Castle Square Tenants Organization (CSTO), in partnership with WinnDevelopment, has officially commenced a $40.1 million redevelopment project at the Eva White Apartments—a 102-unit affordable housing community for seniors and individuals with disabilities located in Boston’s South End. The property is situated next to the 500-unit Castle Square apartment complex.
The modernization initiative will include comprehensive renovations of resident units, the introduction of new onsite health services, the development of additional amenity spaces, and a Deep Energy Retrofit aimed at improving environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.
Originally designated as joint venture developers by the Boston Housing Authority in February 2018, CSTO and WinnDevelopment faced delays due to economic fluctuations and the COVID-19 pandemic. However, significant progress was made in December when CSTO secured necessary financing and became the 99% owner of Eva White Apartments.
“With the start of work on this long-awaited effort, the relationship between CSTO and our company has reached a new level as an industry benchmark for creating true partnership between owners and residents,” said Larry Curtis, President and Managing Partner of WinnDevelopment.
This redevelopment represents a significant step forward in preserving and enhancing affordable housing opportunities in Boston’s South End.
