“What Renters Truly Desire in a Home”

"What Renters Truly Desire in a Home"

Alexandra Ciuntu, a Senior Real Estate Writer and author of the recent Point2Homes survey, has revealed some surprising insights into why people choose to rent homes instead of apartments. While privacy and extra space are common reasons for this choice, the survey also highlighted another important factor: pet accommodations.

According to the survey results, nearly 69% of participants have pets and pet-friendly policies ranked as the third most important factor in deciding where to rent. This shift in priorities shows just how integral pets have become in households and how they shape major living decisions.

In fact, more than 13% of respondents stated that pet accommodations were their main reason for choosing a single-family home over an apartment – even more than those who cited accommodating a growing family as their main reason.

One benefit often associated with apartment living is having maintenance on call for any issues that may arise. However, it seems that renters also want this convenience when renting a home. According to Ciuntu: “There is a strong preference for hassle-free living…this change might have stemmed from the pandemic’s impact.”

When asked what features they would like customized in their rental homes, many respondents mentioned upgraded kitchens as well as additional storage spaces and improved energy efficiency. This suggests that renters value comfort and privacy now more than ever before due to changes brought about by remote work during the pandemic.

The key takeaway from this survey is that builders and investors need to understand these changing needs if they want to attract tenants successfully. Along with space considerations such as dedicated workspaces or high-speed internet access required by remote workers; amenities catering specifically towards pets are becoming increasingly essential too – including doggy doors or designated areas like on-site parks or waste stations – while other conveniences such doggy daycare services can be considered along with social events geared towards our furry friends!

As home renting continues gaining popularity among individuals looking beyond traditional housing options; it’s no longer enough just to build a bunch of houses and call it a day. To stay competitive, investing in modern conveniences and adaptable living spaces will be crucial for attracting and retaining tenants.
