**Weyerhaeuser Acquires 117,000 Acres of Timberlands in North Carolina and Virginia for $375 Million**
Weyerhaeuser, a leading timber company headquartered in Seattle, has announced its acquisition of approximately 117,000 acres of high-quality timberlands in North Carolina and Virginia. The property was purchased from Roanoke Timberlands, a subsidiary of Roseburg Forest Products, for a total of $375 million.
The newly acquired land consists of mature, highly productive timberlands that will integrate seamlessly with Weyerhaeuser’s existing operations in North Carolina. The deal will also expand the company’s presence into southeastern Virginia, enhancing its access to new markets and enabling increased operational efficiency.
“These are exceptional timberlands, and we’re excited and well-positioned to capitalize on this unique off-market opportunity,” said Devin Stockfish, president and chief executive officer of Weyerhaeuser. “As we’ve demonstrated over the last several years, we are committed to active portfolio management across our unmatched timber holdings and have remained disciplined in our approach to growing the value of our timberlands — including through strategically targeted private transactions like the one we’re announcing today.”
The acquisition is expected to deliver strong cash flows as part of Weyerhaeuser’s Southern Timberlands business, further strengthening the company’s leadership in the sustainable forestry industry.
