Weston Urban is advancing a mixed-use proposal that would bring two apartment towers and a hotel to the area targeted for a new ballpark for the San Antonio Missions baseball team. The plans call for a total of 681 apartment units along with a 160-room hotel situated near the anticipated stadium site, forming a key component of the broader ballpark-area vision.
According to reporting referenced from the San Antonio Business Journal, the larger of the two residential towers is envisioned as a 27-story building at 309 W. Travis St., positioned next to San Pedro Creek. A second residential tower, described as a 14-story structure known as The Yard Residences, is planned for 327 W. Martin St. Together, these buildings would deliver several hundred new rental units adjacent to the proposed ballpark and along an emerging urban corridor.
The hospitality element, The Yard Hotel, is planned as an eight-story, 160-room property. It would be located at the northwest corner of West Martin Street and South Flores Street, close to the proposed residential towers and within walking distance of the anticipated stadium. Weston Urban has indicated that the hotel is a core element of the first phase of the baseball stadium proposal, helping to support visitor demand and event-driven traffic tied to the team and surrounding district.
Oversight for the ballpark and associated developments, including the residential and hotel components, resides with the San Pedro Creek Development Authority. This entity, which includes representatives from the city, the county and the Missions organization, convened its inaugural meeting in December. During that meeting, Weston Urban emphasized the strategic role of the hotel within the overall plan for the ballpark-area build-out.
The authority is expected to play a central role in financing the district, with plans to sell bonds in the coming months to fund development around the ballpark site. Proceeds from these bond sales are intended to support the stadium and its related projects, providing a public-sector capital structure that complements Weston Urban’s private development initiatives. While specific financial terms and timelines have not been disclosed, the coordinated planning between the authority and Weston Urban signals a structured, phased approach to creating a new mixed-use node anchored by the proposed San Antonio Missions ballpark.
