Wellstar Plans $300 Million Hiram Expansion

Wellstar Health System, one of the largest healthcare systems in the state, has announced plans to expand its hospital at its Paulding County campus. The expansion will include an eight-story tower with 56 additional beds, resulting in a 50% increase in bed capacity. This project is estimated to cost $304 million and will integrate with the existing Wellstar Paulding Hospital and adjacent buildings.

According to reports from Atlanta Business Chronicle, construction on this new tower could begin as early as next year and be completed by 2028. The Hiram facility originally opened in April of 2014 with 56 beds and has since operated at a high capacity due to its convenient location near Hwy.278 and Bill Carruth Parkway.

The expansion will not only add more beds but also include renovations for improved patient care services such as emergency departments, cancer centers, women’s imaging facilities,and surgical services.
