Walgreens Closing Two Distribution Centers

Walgreens Boots Alliance, a leading retail and pharmacy company based in Deerfield, Illinois, has announced the closure of two distribution centers in Florida and Connecticut. This decision is part of the company’s efforts to reduce costs and improve its operational structure.

According to Walgreens spokesperson Marty Maloney, this move is aimed at better serving their patients and customers by streamlining capacities. As a result of these closures, nearly 700 employees will be laid off.

Last year saw Walgreens unveil plans to cut $1 billion in costs by eliminating hundreds of roles at its corporate headquarters in Deerfield. Additionally, the company recently announced the closure of all Village MD clinics located in Florida and Illinois.

This latest development from Walgreens highlights their commitment towards optimizing operations for enhanced efficiency while also adapting to changing market conditions.
