Waitlist Now Open for Newly Renovated Affordable Housing in Springfield

Related Midwest has announced the opening of the waitlist for Poplar Place, a newly renovated affordable family apartment community in Springfield, Illinois. The development features 100 modern apartments within single-family and duplex homes.

Working closely with local officials and organizations such as the city of Springfield and the Springfield Housing Authority, Related Midwest partnered with contractor LR Contracting Company to transform Poplar Place into a modern community. Originally built in 1950, this $44.8 million redevelopment project includes de-densifying the existing property and fully rehabbing 75 buildings.

According to Sarah Wick, Senior Vice President at Related Midwest: “The renovation of Poplar Place is truly transformative for both East Side residents and greater Springfield as a whole.” The rehabilitation process was led by Evan Lloyd Architects under construction management by LR Contracting Company. Upgrades include modernized interior finishes, new kitchens and bathrooms, as well as energy-efficient appliances.

This recently completed affordable housing project marks an exciting milestone for both Related Midwest’s commitment to providing quality living spaces while also revitalizing communities across Illinois.
