The Sunset Amphitheater, a proposed entertainment venue in McKinney, is one step closer to becoming a reality. The lead developer, Venu, has officially purchased the land for the project after receiving approval from the town. In order to secure this prime location at the northeast corner of US 75 and SH 121 near Sheraton McKinney, Venu had previously held an option on the land.
Thanks to $50 million in incentives provided by the town, construction on this $220 million project is expected to begin soon. The state-of-the-art amphitheater will have a capacity of 20,000 seats and will feature luxurious amenities such as firepit suites available for purchase and a private membership-based club.
Additionally,the venue will offer fully covered seating areas and a beautifully landscaped grass berm for guests’ enjoyment. With over 5,100 parking spaces available onsite,the Sunset Amphitheater aims to provide convenience for its visitors.
Once completed,it is estimated that between 50-65 shows per year will be hosted at this new entertainment destination.The official groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for spring,and it’s projected thatthe amphitheaterwill open its doorsin June2026.This exciting development marks another milestone inMcKinney’s thriving entertainment sceneandis sureto attract localsand tourists alike.
