Ventana Medical Acquires Tucson R&D Facility

Ventana Medical Systems, Inc. has recently acquired a pharmaceutical research and development facility in Oro Valley for $25 million. The 112,500-square-foot facility is situated on 11.54 acres and was originally built as a drug discovery lab with extensive laboratory and office space.

The three-level building also features an atrium, conference rooms, and support areas totaling to 20,969 square feet. Previously occupied by Icagen after its acquisition of Sanofi in 2016, the property has been vacant since last year.

According to reports, the total costs for construction of the building amounted to over $90 million or $803 per square foot including acquisition expenses.

With its advanced testing automation technology used for cancer diagnostics globally,Ventana Medical is recognized as a leading supplier of cancer diagnostic systems with more than250 tests available along with associated instruments.This recent acquisition further strengthens their position in the pathology market.
