"VA New Central Forensic Science Lab Tops Out by Skanska"

Skanska has successfully completed the construction of the new Central Region Forensic Laboratory in Hanover, Virginia. This state-of-the-art facility spans over 281,425 square feet and will house both the Virginia Department of Forensic Science and the Office of Chief Medical Examiner.

Mark Balling, executive vice president responsible for Skanska’s building operations in North Carolina and Virginia, expressed pride in their team’s hard work to deliver an exceptional facility for citizens of the Commonwealth. He also mentioned that safety was a top priority during this project.

The laboratory will feature various specialized areas for forensic analysis, autopsy procedures, administrative tasks, and more. Construction began in 2023 with an expected completion date set for 2025.
