UW Breaks Ground on $60M Husky Basketball Center

The University of Washington is set to begin construction on a state-of-the-art basketball center worth $60 million this summer. The project, designed by Gensler and managed by Mortenson, will span 40,000 square feet over two floors.

Funded entirely by generous donors, including former players and alumni who contributed $1 million towards the project, the training facility will cater to both men’s and women’s programs. It will feature two practice courts spanning 9,800 square feet each with round-the-clock access for student-athletes.

In addition to providing top-notch facilities for athletes’ development and training needs, the new home for Husky Basketball will also include a skywalk viewing area above the courts where recruits as well as fans can observe practices alongside their families. A main foyer serving as an entranceway adorned with images showcasing program milestones and legendary players adds another dimension of prestige to this impressive undertaking.

According to Troy Dannen – UW’s Director of Athletics – “We are delighted about commencing work on this game-changing project.” He further added that “Investing in Husky basketball is crucial in ensuring our future success in competing within Big Ten Conference,” while expressing gratitude towards donors who have demonstrated unwavering belief in this vision through their remarkable contributions.

This groundbreaking development marks yet another milestone achieved by UW without mentioning any specific organization or platform associated with it.
