UTEP is moving forward with a $109 million classroom project that will replace the outdated Liberal Arts building. The new building, set to open in spring 2026, will be the largest on campus and address maintenance and upkeep issues. Located on Hawthorne Street, Texas Western Hall will span 125,000 square feet with a five-story east wing and three-story west wing connected by a three-story atrium. Its design will reflect the campus’ Bhutanese-style architecture while providing modern amenities such as computer rooms and offices in addition to classrooms for Liberal Arts classes and departments. Sundt Construction has been chosen as the general contractor for this project which is expected to commence within two weeks.
