**UT Southwestern Medical Center Breaks Ground on $177M Radiation Oncology Campus in Fort Worth**
UT Southwestern Medical Center has officially broken ground on a $177 million Radiation Oncology campus aimed at delivering state-of-the-art therapies to patients in Fort Worth — the 12th-largest city in the United States.
The upcoming 65,000-square-foot facility will introduce Fort Worth’s first MRI-guided precision radiation treatment and is expected to open in 2028. It will be connected to UT Southwestern’s Moncrief Cancer Institute, located in the city’s Medical District.
Currently, up to two-thirds of cancer patients require radiation therapy during their treatment journey. This new expansion will position UT Southwestern as the provider of the largest radiation oncology facility in the Fort Worth area. The development will significantly improve access for patients receiving care from various oncologists across the region, offering them a more convenient option, particularly for those needing frequent or even daily treatments.
Key features of the new Radiation Oncology campus include:
– Four linear accelerators (LINACs) capable of delivering ultra-precise radiation therapies, with additional space to accommodate two more LINACs in the future as demand grows.
