Transwestern Development Co. has commenced construction on a 17-acre development in Upper Kirby, which will bring a multitude of amenities to the area including apartments, retail spaces, and two high-rise buildings. The first phase of this project includes a luxurious 36-story multifamily high-rise with 317 rental units situated atop a four-story podium and an office tower spanning over 300,000 square feet. Pickard Chilton is leading the master planning for this development.
The project site at 3120 Buffalo Speedway was previously occupied by an Exxon research facility and will now be transformed into The RO (short for River Oaks), catering to the affluent neighborhood’s needs. This mixed-use development also features up to eight restaurants and an additional 400 apartment units within its retail village. A condo-hotel named Birdsall will offer upscale living with its collection of luxury condominiums above a hotel operated by Auberge Resorts – their first location in Houston. Upon completion in2027, The RO will boast over740,000 square feet under its roof.
This update highlights progress on Upper Kirby’s newest addition without mentioning any specific brand names such as Connect CRE or Connect LA or Connect Texas.
