The Christian Cultural Center (CCC) and Reverend A.R. Bernard have announced the construction plans for the first two phases of their Innovative Urban Village development in East New York, in collaboration with Gotham Organization and Monadnock Development. The estimated cost of these initial phases is $570 million, which will create 817 permanently affordable rental residences when Phase 1A begins construction next winter.
Reverend Bernard expressed his enthusiasm for this milestone: “The Urban Village brings a new concept of affordable housing to East New York and provides robust programming for a growing community…It is a long-awaited vision being transformed into reality; I couldn’t be more thrilled!” In addition to residential space, the project will include retail stores such as grocery stores, pharmacies, medical centers and daycare facilities that support local residents’ needs.
