"University of Washington Commences Construction on Basketball Training Facility"

Construction has officially begun on the new ICA Basketball Training Facility at the University of Washington (UW), a joint effort between UW, Mortenson, and Gensler. This 36,000-square-foot facility will serve as the dedicated home for both men’s and women’s basketball teams. The project is fully funded by generous donors, including over $1 million from Husky basketball players and alumni.

The state-of-the-art training facility will feature two practice courts totaling 9,800 square feet each. These courts will be exclusively available to each program for round-the-clock use with top-of-the-line equipment provided for fair and equal access to resources. The project is expected to be completed in Fall 2025.

Francesly Sierra of Gensler Seattle expressed excitement about this long-awaited partnership with UW Athletics and Mortenson during the groundbreaking ceremony: “This groundbreaking marks an exciting milestone in our collaboration with University of Washington Athletics and Mortenson.” In addition to these features, there will also be viewing areas, gathering spaces,a conference room for recruiting purposes, and renovations totaling 4,o00 square feet.
