United Properties Breaks Ground on Seniors Housing Project in Minnesota
CRE Market Beat Take
New 55-plus supply in the northwest Twin Cities suburbs signals continued capital allocation to active adult rentals and will incrementally raise competitive pressure on nearby senior housing assets as it delivers in 2027.

United Properties has started construction on Amira Corcoran, a new age-restricted rental community in Corcoran, Minnesota, expanding the firm’s seniors housing footprint in the northwest Twin Cities metro. The 55-plus active adult property is planned with 143 rental units and is located at 7330 Brockton Lane N., positioning it in a growing suburban area.

The four-story development will broaden the Amira senior living portfolio, which focuses on communities tailored to older adults who want an independent, amenity-driven lifestyle. For this latest project, United Properties has assembled a development team that includes Momentum Design Group as architect, Eagle Building Company as general contractor and Great Lakes Management as property manager.

Dave Young, vice president of senior living development at United Properties, said the project is intended to bring thoughtfully designed homes and amenities to a part of the Twin Cities that is experiencing growth. He emphasized that the Amira Corcoran community is being planned to encourage resident connection, support independence and promote a strong sense of community.

Amira Corcoran is expected to offer a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment homes designed specifically for active adults aged 55 and older. The property’s location near Highway 101 and Bass Lake Road is intended to provide residents with convenient access to nearby shopping, dining, health care services and recreational amenities in the surrounding area.

Construction is underway, with first move-ins anticipated in summer 2027, positioning the project to serve future demand for age-restricted rental housing as the region’s older adult population continues to grow. Once complete, Amira Corcoran will add new purpose-built seniors housing inventory to the northwest Twin Cities metro, complementing United Properties’ existing Amira-branded communities.
