### United Airlines Expands Operations in Houston with $177M Investment
United Airlines has officially broken ground on a new 140,000-square-foot Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Maintenance Facility at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). Additionally, the airline will open a new Technical Operations Training Center (TTC) as part of its ongoing expansion efforts.
The $177 million GSE maintenance facility is expected to be completed by 2027. It will support United’s fleet of over 1,800 ground service vehicles and enhance the capabilities of the airline’s GSE maintenance team, which consists of more than 130 employees. The facility will provide upgraded infrastructure and modernized workspaces, allowing technicians to efficiently perform tasks such as battery charging, metal fabrication, and electronic control monitoring.
In addition to the GSE maintenance facility, United is investing $16 million in a new Tech Ops Training Center to support its ambitious fleet expansion plan, which includes the delivery of hundreds of new planes by 2032. The 91,000-square-foot training center will feature sheet metal and composite training shops, desktop simulators, and hands-on engine maintenance and inspection training.
United is the largest airline operating in Houston, employing more than 14,000 people and operating over 500 daily departures.
