United Airlines Buys Former Motorola Property for Business Operations

United Airlines has acquired a 205,000-square-foot building at 1421 W. Shure Drive in Arlington Heights to expand its network operations facility. The property was formerly the home of Motorola’s wireless-network equipment business, reported Crain’s Chicago Business.

The new space will provide more room for United’s 1,500 employees and allow for future hiring opportunities with additional amenities such as a fitness facility. This move comes as United also plans to remodel and expand their Houston airport terminal .

Northbrook based Torburn Partners purchased the building from Nokia Siemens in 2013 through a sale leaseback agreement after they had acquired Motorola’s network equipment business in 2011 for nearly $1 billion dollars.
