Uniqlo, a popular clothing retailer, is expanding its presence in the United States with the opening of a new store at South Shore Plaza in Braintree. This marks their first location south of Boston and is part of their plan to open 20 new stores this year, doubling their number from last year.
The company’s growth strategy focuses on both coasts, with another Uniqlo store set to open at Providence Place mall. These two locations are expected to launch this spring. Uniqlo already has several stores in the Boston area including Newbury Street, The Shops at Chestnut Hill and Natick Mall.
In addition to Uniqlo’s expansion news, South Shore Plaza has also welcomed Akira – a women’s clothing store – while Just Cozy will be closing its doors. Perfumania will soon join as well with plans for an upcoming fragrance shop along with Box Lunch – previously announced as another gift shop option.
