A Universal Music Group-affiliated company is moving forward with plans for a large-scale entertainment and hospitality destination that will combine a 10,000-seat amphitheater with a branded hotel and residential component. The project, centered on the White Rocks Amphitheater, is planned to include 150 hotel rooms and 600 private residences as part of a broader UMusic-branded offering.
According to reporting referenced from the Austin Business Journal, the hospitality and residential elements of the development will carry the UMusic Hotel & Private Residences Austin flag. This branding aligns the project with Universal Music Group’s growing lifestyle and hospitality platform, which already includes one operating UMusic Hotels location in Madrid, Spain.
The proposed development is subject to approvals, and the current schedule anticipates construction starting in the first quarter of 2027. The plan calls for a phased delivery, with the initial phase expected to bring the amphitheater, the full 150-key hotel and the first 240 residential units online in the fourth quarter of 2028. Two subsequent phases are expected to complete the remaining 360 residences, with final delivery targeted sometime in 2029 or 2030.
UMusic Hospitality & Lifestyle is slated to operate the on-site hotel, integrating lodging with the project’s performance and lifestyle offerings. The White Rocks Amphitheater is designed as a 10,000-seat outdoor venue intended to anchor the destination’s live entertainment program and support activity across the rest of the mixed-use environment.
The development vision extends beyond core hospitality and residential uses to include a suite of music- and content-focused amenities. Plans call for professional recording and content studios, providing infrastructure tailored to artists and creators. Additional entertainment venues include a nightclub, a comedy club and a 1,500-capacity indoor performance space, further expanding the property’s year-round programming potential.
On the food and beverage side, the project is set to feature two fine-dining restaurants, positioning the destination to capture event-driven and local demand. Residential owners are expected to have access to dedicated lifestyle amenities, including a private pool and fitness facilities, creating a separate but connected experience from the public-facing entertainment venues and hotel operations.
While detailed financial terms, ownership structure and development costs have not been disclosed, the scale of the amphitheater, hotel and 600-unit residential program indicates a substantial long-term investment in a branded music-centric destination. The phased approach, contingent on approvals, is structured to bring the core components online first, with later phases completing the residential build-out.
