**ULI, USC Lusk, and UCLA Ziman Release Comprehensive Roadmap for Wildfire Recovery in Los Angeles**
The Urban Land Institute Los Angeles (ULI Los Angeles), the UCLA Ziman Center for Real Estate, and the USC Lusk Center for Real Estate have jointly released a detailed recovery strategy aimed at supporting post-wildfire rebuilding efforts across the Los Angeles region. Titled *Project Recovery*, the report was developed by approximately 100 subject-matter experts in land use, urban planning, economic development, and resilience planning.
The report provides technical analysis and a series of actionable recommendations designed to accelerate recovery efforts and promote long-term resilience in wildfire-impacted communities.
“The devastating fires in the Los Angeles area have affected tens of thousands of lives in our community,” said Lew Horne, incoming Chair of ULI Los Angeles and President of CBRE for Greater Los Angeles, Orange County, and the Inland Empire. “ULI, in collaboration with UCLA and USC, is committed to playing a meaningful role in the recovery efforts by mobilizing the private sector to support and partner with the City and County. Together, we can create solutions to help our region rebuild toward a stronger and more resilient future. I’m grateful to the many industry leaders who volunteered their time and expertise to join us in this effort.”
Key challenges and strategic solutions identified in the report include:
– Securing funding for infrastructure restoration
– Standardizing debris removal protocols
– Fast-tracking rebuilding efforts
– Addressing labor and supply chain issues
– Stabilizing California’s property insurance market
– Offering mortgage forbearance options
– Introducing Community Rebuilding Authorities
– Ensuring long-term financial support for infrastructure efforts
The report will be updated periodically as additional insights and data become available.
This initiative underscores the critical importance of cross-sector collaboration in addressing the impacts of natural disasters and preparing communities for a more resilient future.
