The Urban Land Institute Chicago (ULI Chicago) has recently published its final report, “Elevate State,” which offers recommendations for revitalizing and improving the stretch of State Street from Wacker Drive to Ida B. Wells Drive. The report was developed in collaboration with the City of Chicago Department of Planning and Development and the Chicago Loop Alliance, drawing on insights from a diverse panel of real estate experts and cultural leaders.
Key suggestions outlined in the report include creating event spaces, promoting adaptive reuse projects, enhancing safety measures, and expanding the boundaries of LaSalle Central Area TIF to encompass State Street.
“We are committed to supporting both Chicago Loop Alliance and city officials in implementing these recommendations that will elevate State Street as one of our city’s premier destinations for world-class cultural experiences,” stated Mark Kelly, ULI Panel Chair for this project who also served as former Commissioner for City Of Cultural Affairs & Special Events under Mayor Richard M. Daley.
