**Developer Duo Eyeing Odessa for 1 GW Data Center**
New Era Helium has announced that Texas Critical Data Centers LLC (TCDC), its 50/50 joint venture with Sharon AI, has completed the purchase of 235 acres from Grow Odessa. The site is located in Ector County, Texas, near the city of Odessa, with an option to acquire an additional 200 acres adjacent to the property.
TCDC is planning to develop a large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) campus on the site. The facility is designed to surpass 1 gigawatt (GW) of capacity to support the growing demand for AI and GPU-based infrastructure.
Strategically located, the site offers immediate proximity to key infrastructure including fiber optic networks, multiple major intrastate natural gas transmission lines, and CO₂ pipeline systems.
To support the development, TCDC will pursue the formation of an Industrial District in partnership with the City of Odessa. This designation will help facilitate access to essential municipal services such as water supply and wastewater treatment. Importantly, it allows TCDC to maintain the favorable Ector County zoning regulations, rather than adopt the City of Odessa’s zoning requirements. This move is intended to accelerate the project timeline and maintain development flexibility.
