Trumark Homes, a Western U.S. homebuilder, has moved into the Pacific Northwest through the acquisition of Washington-based JK Monarch. The transaction marks Trumark Homes’ first formal entry into the region and adds an established local builder with an active pipeline of residential communities to its platform.
Gregg Nelson, co-founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Trumark Companies, said the firm has been targeting the Pacific Northwest for several years. He noted that acquiring JK Monarch positions Trumark Homes to participate directly in what he described as the strength of the regional housing market.
JK Monarch, founded in 2011 by industry veteran Jonathan Bartels, operates as a private homebuilder with a focus on new home communities. The company is actively building across the Puget Sound and Tri-Cities areas, with ongoing residential developments in Puyallup, Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Bonney Lake, Lakewood, and Enumclaw. These communities expand Trumark Homes’ footprint into multiple local submarkets within Washington through a single regional platform.
As part of the acquisition, Trumark Homes expects to bring the broader JK Monarch team into its organization. Integrating the existing staff is intended to support continuity in operations and in the execution of JK Monarch’s active and planned communities. According to the announcement, Bartels will remain involved during the transition, serving in an advisory capacity to support the handover process.
JTW Advisors acted as exclusive financial advisor to JK Monarch in connection with the acquisition. Specific financial terms of the transaction, including purchase price and capital structure, were not disclosed in the announcement. The acquisition does, however, reflect continued buyer interest in established regional homebuilding platforms with active land positions and ongoing community pipelines.
By combining Trumark Homes’ broader Western U.S. presence with JK Monarch’s local operational base and project portfolio, the transaction creates a larger homebuilding platform in the Pacific Northwest. For the local markets where JK Monarch is currently active, the change in ownership brings a new corporate parent while retaining the internal expertise and leadership that have been in place since the company was founded.
