The XTO Energy Building, spanning 120,000 square feet, will soon be transformed into a Residence Inn by Marriott – an extended-stay hotel. In 2022, Irving-based Icon Lodging acquired the building and has allocated $33 million for renovations. The design team is currently seeking historic preservation tax credits to maintain the original facades.
Built in 1910 by Sanguinet & Staats as the First National Bank of Fort Worth and previously known as the Baker Building and Bob R. Simpson Building, this Beaux-Arts structure stands at eleven stories tall and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Although details regarding room numbers and amenities are yet to be announced, typical features at Residence Inn locations include a variety of rooms and suites along with a fitness center and hot breakfast service.
Construction is scheduled to commence in March with an estimated completion time frame of one year.
