San Francisco Mayor London Breed joined the San Francisco Giants, Tishman Speyer and the Port of San Francisco to mark the opening of The Canyon, a 23-story apartment tower. Representing Mission Rock Partners’ development team, this marks completion of the first building at Mission Rock – a 28-acre mixed-use development that began move-ins earlier this month.
At full build out, Mission Rock will encompass more than 1,000 rental apartments; eight acres of public parks and open space; up to 1.4 million square feet for office and lab space; 200,000 square feet for neighborhood retail and local manufacturing spaces as well as rehabilitation historic Pier 48 – all with 40% onsite affordable housing without explicit public subsidy according to Carl Shannon Senior Managing Director at Tishman Speyer “We are opening a new neighborhood in San Francisco” he said during his remarks at The Canyon’s grand opening ceremony.
