Tin Building in Seaport Completed by Plaza Construction

Plaza Construction has completed the historic rebuilding of the Tin Building at Pier 17, formerly housing the Fulton Fish Market and now home to Jean-Georges Gourmet Food Hall. Plaza was responsible for meticulously replicating this NYC Landmarks building in South Street Seaport district.

Thomas D’Ercole, EVP of Plaza Construction expressed pride in being part of such a historical project: “The Tin Building is an extraordinary example that national landmarks can be repurposed with modern amenities while still preserving their original character.”

Plaza dismantled and removed all existing structures from Pier 17 before constructing a new pier 33 feet eastward and raising it above flood plain level. The team then built a new structure, restoring select iron and steel structural members as well as faithfully replicating its facade to maintain its unique fish market charm.
