Tesla is planning to move into a nearly 65,000-square-foot facility at 7010 W. State Highway 71 in Austin, Texas. The electric car manufacturer has filed a construction plan with the state for an estimated cost of $6.7 million for renovations and the project is referred to as “interior build out for Tesla” in the filing.
The building is located within Center of the Hills shopping mall owned by Kimco and marketing material from Kimco indicated that more than 62,000 people live within a three-mile radius of Center of the Hills making it an ideal location due to its populous nature and growth potential in Southwest Austin where retail occupancy rate was slightly above metro average (96.9%) during first quarter this year at 97.3%.
In addition to this new South Austin showroom space, Tesla already has two other retail locations; one at The Domain and another one Northwest Austin giving them presence across major parts of city making their cars easily accessible throughout region .
