**Tesla to Build Megafactory in Brookshire, Creating 1,500 Jobs**
Tesla is set to invest over $190 million in a new Megafactory in Brookshire, bringing 1,500 manufacturing jobs to the region. The facility will produce Megapacks—utility-scale batteries designed to provide energy during peak demand periods.
The project will roll out in two phases at the business park. Under the agreement, the following commitments have been outlined for Phase 2:
– **Stream Realty** will invest $44 million to upgrade the manufacturing facility at 111 Empire Blvd., including enhancements to electrical capacity and heating and cooling systems.
– **Tesla** will contribute approximately $150 million to install manufacturing equipment.
For a future Phase 3, set at 103 Empire Blvd.:
– **Stream Realty** will construct a $31.5 million manufacturing facility.
– **Tesla** will install distribution equipment and make building improvements, with an investment ranging between $2 million and $5 million.
Additionally, Tesla is required to employ 1,500 workers by its third year of operation.
