Tech Talent in Boston: Ranking 7th in the US

Boston is a top-ranking U.S. city for tech talent, according to CBRE’s 2023 Scoring Tech Talent report, which ranks the metro area #7 overall. This is due in part to Boston’s abundance of esteemed universities and research institutes that produce highly sought-after tech employees with advanced degrees and skillsets.

The total number of tech jobs in Boston has grown 22.5% over the past five years, reaching 161,470 this year alone – an impressive feat considering it was only surpassed by New York City and Los Angeles for total number of completed tech degrees granted (13,802). What’s more: CBRE’s report found that 51.1% of adults living in the Boston metro area hold at least a bachelor’s degree – making them even more attractive candidates for employers looking to fill AI positions specifically or other technical roles across various industries .

Ron Friedman , EVP at CBRE commented on these findings saying “In addition to ranking seventh overall , Boston is home to some of the best educated talent.” He went on further noting “Interestingly , for Artificial Intelligence (AI), a subset of tech talent , Boston is one o f t he primary markets looked at by companies seeking out qualified employees .” Additionally wages paid by local technology companies averaged $121 794 .

With its high concentration o f well-educated professionals complemented b y competitive salaries offered within th e industry – it comes as no surprise why Bosto n continues t o be one o f America ’ s leading cities when i t comes t o attracting top tier technica l ta lent .
